    King Racing Shells

    Racing Boat

Available in 4+ and 8+ the King is a staple of US Collegiate & Junior Rowing Programmes. This smooth running, fast yet stable hull holds course records at many regattas and head races including Head of the Charles. It’s long waterline helps fight boat check and porpoising, the large fin helps stabilise your crew and the higher rocker with responsive rudder makes this hull easy to manoeuvre, perfect for curvy venues.

The combination of speed, stability and manoeuvrability make this an ideal choice for university and college crews who often have less water time compared to other programmes

    Concept

A racing boat needs to be simple and comfortable to row. Maintaining balance while controlling the oars is difficult to master. Providing a stable platform speeds up the transition from learning to performing and this is where the real enjoyment is derived.

    Reliability

A racing boat is one part of the puzzle along with athlete’s condition and preparation, coach’s skill and knowledge, weather and other non controllable elements. By using the highest quality materials and the latest technology in production creates a consistency and reliability. This takes the King boats out of the equation so one less thing to worry about.

    Appearance

A racing boat needs clean lines and be easy to maintain. Before you row the boat. you see it and first impressions count. Finding a boat attractive builds confidence in the user harmonising mental and physical performance. Easy maintenance enables the user to keep the boat in tip top condition throughout its working life.

    Performance

A racing boat must be fast and perform well. Having an attractive reliable boat with a great concept, accounts for little if the boat is slow. The beauty of the King is that fifty years of experience and a no compromise approach have resulted in combining all four to provide the ultimate racing boat.

    Designed By Graeme King

Graeme King was born in Adelaide, South Australia in 1947. He became fascinated with boats at the early age of five while watching a news reel of an eight oared shell race. As Graeme tells the story, he went home immediately and built his first model of a rowing shell. This first effort would mark the beginning of a long and illustrious career as one of the most decorated and credible rowing shell designers in the world.
