We are proud of our innovative and environmentally sustainable approach to boat building. We’re the MOST sustainable boat builder – using clean energy, disposing of waste responsibly and ensuring we source materials ethically.
King Racing HQ Environmental Initiative
In November 2018, a major multi-million dollar renovation was completed at our 500,000 sq ft state of the art manufacturing facility. This investment was to ensure we not only complied with but exceeded new tougher environmental legislation and controls. Our core focuses were clean air, water and solar power.
The result of this project:
- No air pollution from the factory enters the atmosphere. Our centralised comprehensive dual air cleaning system filters VOCs and active carbon filters pull out impurities in the air. Further filtration systems remove 100% of the exhaust from our productions’ paint booths.
- All water is recycled through filters in a closed water system and cannot get back into the main water supply. Therefore, no dirty or contaminated water is returned to the general water system.
- 19,000 square metres of solar panels on the factory roof supplying 3.1 megawatts of power to the plant. This offset the majority of its power consumption with a green based net-zero carbon output renewable energy source.
Our leadership team fully embraces any projects that bring positive changes to our sport particularly related to reducing our sports impact on the environment.
As a result of the above project we’re proud to announce that we were a World Rowing 2019 Sustainability Award Finalist.
